CLINICAL GEROPSYCHOLOGY (LTPC 2501)


This programme will cover introduction of clinical Geropsychology, psychopathology among older adults, clinical assessment approaches with older adults, and psychotherapeutic interventions with older adults. Emphasis will be placed on familiarizing students with empirically based interventions designed for the unique problems of the older adult.
Upon successful completion of this programme, students will have ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of psychopathology among older adults, Assessment strategies and instruments used in clinical Geropsychology, working knowledge of the therapeutic intervention strategies used in clinical Geropsychology, Applying theoretical concepts of aging and interventions to practice and Increase professional identity and identification as a clinical Geropsychologist.

PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVENTION TRAINING PROGRAMME – LEVEL I (LTPC 2504)

The ultimate aim of the programme is to train the psychology students, and untrained professions to develop their skills and act as independent counsellors, psychologists, behaviour Analysts, and therapists for working various counselling settings.
Psychological interventions are methods used to bring out changes in an individual. Specifically they are activities used to modify an individual or group’s behaviour, emotional state, or feelings. To treat psychological disorders, interventions can be coupled with pharmaceuticals as well as psycho therapy.

It is a psychological treatment that helps someone to express and explore thoughts and feelings that they might otherwise struggle to put into words. It is another way of understanding and processing emotional problems.
